Research laboratories have been equipped with state-of-art equipments. The cost of the first phase was about SR 35 million. The equipments include: advanced electron microscopes and basic advanced facilities necessary to carry out nanotechnology advanced scientific researches.
The cost of equipments for the second and third phase is expected to reach SR 50 million.
King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology contains four types of laboratories:
1. Laboratories of manufacturing of materials and nano-devices:
These laboratories contain a cleanroom which is used for manufacturing parts of the developed nano-devices, and which will have major research applications. In addition, nano-particles, nano-tubes, and nano-fibers, will be used in water desalination and other researches at the institute, will be manufactured.
2. Laboratories of studying and specifying the properties of nano-materials:
Includes the latest laboratory equipments used for measurement and specifying the properties of nano-materials. The importance of this laboratory lies in high quality imaging of nano-particles, nano-tubes and nano-fibers prepared in the institute.
3. Nano-biotechnology laboratories:
These laboratories include equipments for the preparation and measuring the properties of nano-materials and nano-systems used for biological, pharmaceutical and medical applications.
4. Simulation and design laboratories:
These laboratories include latest advanced computers and software to design and simulate nano-systems, nano-materials and their interactions.
