The new building of KAIN
The new building of King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology at Riyadh Technology Valley
The Institute's building was designed in collaboration with the Program of Strategic Construction at KSU. The Idea of the design and architecture was extracted from the nuclear atom and the electrons and protons rotation around it. The structural globe in the middle of the building represents the nucleus which houses the main Institute's theatre (conference hall).
Up-to-date architectural material has been used to convey the idea behind the construction and to reflect the endeavor to achieve the vision of the Custodian of the two Holly Mosques King Abdullah Ben Abdul-Aziz for pioneering innovation in nanotechnology.
The new building has been designed according to the latest international standards and will be equipped with up-to-date laboratories and equipments.
The new building will be built on a land area of 13,000 squared meter, and the built area will be 8,000 squared meter, which is divided as follows:
First: Research laboratories which includes laboratories to manufacture nanomaterials and nano-devices, to characterize and measure different types of nano-materials. It includes as wen bionanotechnology laboratories, and laboratories for simulation and design. These laboratories cover an area of 4,000 squared meter.
Second: Warehouses: The warehouse area is 1,000 squared meter.
Third: Administrative and researcher's offices: These will occupy be on an area of 1,000 squared meter.
Forth: Area of workstations: This area will be about 1,500 squared meter.
Fifth: Service area: Will extend on an area of 500 squared meter.
