Abstract

Gelcasting is a new method for manufacturing advanced structural ceramics. This involves geletaion, drying, sintering stages. In which moisture, which constitutes approximately a quarter of the mass of the part, is removed by special drying procedure and then the particles sintered in high temperature furnace. The control system design for the gel cast ceramic drying and sintering process is complicated by the requirement of avoiding cracking during shrinkage of the part. Slip Casting is a common method to produce ceramic parts and special use in producing Alumina membranes, by new method (which called Gel Casting) parts with higher density, machinable and higher strength in green mode could be produced, The method Contains Toxic ingredients; In investigated method the toxic ingredients such as

catalyst was omitted, the resulted membranes are purer and have better surface with out any bubbles. By the new method we could prepare high density, nano porous, pure and low cost membranes. The resulted membranes mainly use in nano filtration and perevaporation systems; also they have wide usage as catalyst. This paper describes the production parameters affects the pore size and strength of the membranes by nontoxic ingredients.
